LOVE/LUST SAND

I was listening to my colleagues and friends discuss love and sex. Questions like orgasm in women, ending a relationship etc arose and we all tried to answer from both the male and female perspective. One guy asked, "why do women get so upset when they realise you aren't gonna marry them? Not every relationship must end in marriage."

"I agree with that school of thought", said my girlfriend, "but why did you begin the relationship in the first place?"

"Probably to use her," was the guy's response.

She gave him a queer look, "so I should be ok with you using me?"

I thought about it a bit and realised that we often blame men for always paying attention to what's between their legs but the ladies aren't any different. I recently learnt about the 'Dick' sand but let me coin mine as 'The Love/Lust Sand'. It is very much like the quicksand. On the outside, it looks ordinary, not until you have walked on it and you have started sinking that you realize it's a quicksand. Same with the ladies. A sweet word and a little attention gets us in. We do not ensure the stability of the foundation before we start building the relationship. When he smiles, we see rose petals. When he holds our hands, we imagine being wrapped in his arms every night. When he licks his lips, we think of his good morning kiss. When the guy is walking away, you are already sinking and like the quicksand, if you panic or throw a tantrum, you sink deeper.

Not every frog deserves your kiss. You will only make all of them feel like a prince meanwhile your prince is yet to arrive and trust me, you don't need to sink before he lifts you up.

EXPECTATIONS

I was ready to leave the Ampang hospital. I stepped through the glass doors while the driver pulled up in front of me. I got into the passenger's seat and said hello to Tiff who was occupying the owners seat of the Embassy's vehicle. We hadn't seen all morning. On the drive back to the Mutiara condo, I started off the conversation.
"I assume you woke up late and couldn't make it to morning mass.'
"Oh no, I woke up early enough. Just didnt go," she replied and I cast a glance at her, very surprised by her response. She had her eyes fixed on her phone.
It was her mother's birthday and the day's event had kickstarted with morning mass and intentions. I had heard her mom leaving the house that morning and had thought she was gonna go with her and probably plan a special daughter's birthday treat for her mom.
"I wouldn't in the world have thought you will miss your mother's birthday mass. Why couldn't you make it?"

"Not that I couldn't make it. I didn't want to make it. I did not plan to attend mass this morning."
"But won't she be disappointed? I mean it's her birthday", Tiff and her mom had a special bond, being an only child.
"Oh dear, she had better not be. People should learn to manage their expectations. Not everybody will bend backwards for you. Neither should you place expectations on people. You will avoid a lot of disappointments that way."
Her reply jolted me to a reality we overlook. That was one lesson I was taught during my stay in Kuala Lumpur. Even to this day, that lesson still speaks volume. Throughout 2016/2017, I waited for people to make things happen for me because they had said they would. Both years went by and none of the promises were fulfilled.
Learn to Manage your expectations. Expect more from God and yourself. Expect less or nothing from others. People have their priorities and trust me, more often than not, you might not even be on their list of priorities let alone be at the top of the list.

IDIEGE STEVEN OMANG PROVIDES SHELTER

A CORP MEMBER BUILDS A GIGANTIC LODGE IN A STRANGE LAND: THE COMMISSIONING

Some people are born great, some people live to create greatness for themselves. Despite living in a strange land, where we tried keeping our heads above the water from the stipends we were receiving from the Federal government, a Corp member built a gigantic Corp members' Lodge. Idiege Steven Omang, a Corp member sent to serve his fatherland in Edo State, with the state code ED/16B/0225, built a Lodge for incoming Corp members. The Lodge contains 6 large rooms, 3 toilets and bathrooms, a  very spacious passage, a large kitchen/store, a generator room and a corridor. The Lodge is located at Azukhala, Ekperi kingdom, Etsako Local Government Area of Edo State. Idiege Steven Omang who hails from Cross River State, graduated from Cross River State University where he studied Visual Arts. He was a one time Student Union President of Cross River State University and President/Corp Members' Liaison Officer (CLO) of his Community Development Service (CDS) group while serving his fatherland. The ugly looking face of accommodation in the village he was sent to serve, moved him into embarking on building a lodge for Corp members. He wore determination, stepped into his dream of building a lodge, sat on the seat of discipline, held the steering of never turning back spirit and drove his vision through the high mountains and heavy storms, to success.
The Lodge which was commissioned on November 11, 2017, had so many dignitaries in attendance. Below, is the speech delivered by Idiegie Steven Omang on the commissioning of his project:

After passing out from camp on the 14th December 2016, on arriving Ekperi at about 8pm,we were taken to a lodge where about 8 of us slept in a room, it was very congested. As a result of this, many were seeking for reposting because of accommodation problems and there was another case of the former Education Development Group President who rented an apartment but within a period of 4 months, he was chased out of his apartment by his landlord for no genuine reason without refunding his money, this accommodation money was even part of his monthly allowance. Having seen all these discomfort experienced by the corps members posted to this area, I became motivated to strive and put a stop or at least reduce this self instrumental rejection drive by corps members on grounds of lack of accommodation.
   The journey was not smooth at all, I faced a lot of challenges, like opposition, discouragement, unfulfilled promises, running around and having countless number of sleepless nights but to the glory of the Almighty God who has made this project a success to Him I return all the glory. My unreserved appreciation goes to my LGI, Mrs Maryam Momoh, who was always there to run to, talk to and receive all the necessary encouragements, the Assistant Director (CDS) NYSC Edo state, Mrs. Isede, who was also there to guide and direct me, to the community chairman, Comrade Oboh Modu who was always available whenever I called for his fatherly advise and assistance, like the saying goes, 'an elderly man cannot sit and watch a goat deliver while tied to a stick' he is a father indeed, to all religious leaders who supported this project financially and spiritually, God will strengthen you all. To the entire Azukhala Community elders and youths who made sure this project come this far, all other sponsors, donors, and my fellow Corps Members and friends, the likes of Idowu Oyetayo, Ogukanmi Kayode, Ayatu Omale, Ebouku Chukuka, Ishau Aderonke, Oboh Abdulazeez, Yakubu and many others too numerous to mention, I say a very big thank you and God bless you all.
    I am indeed grateful to the NYSC Edo State Coordinator for personally coming around for the commissioning of this project, it shows the importance to the scheme and your dispotion to all Corps Members irrespective of where they are posted to
My speech will not be complete without appreciating the NYSC scheme for affording me the opportunity to identify my latent skills and put them to reality for the benefit of humanity. I give God all the glory.
    My advice goes to youths all over the world. 'Nothing is impossible when you have the mind of starting it, nothing is unachievable when you set your mind to do it. No mountain is too big to climb, all you need to do is to start and never give up'.

DEATH CAN'T STOP A GOOD HEART

Jemima Layzell, a 13-year-old girl from Somerset, who died in 2012 from a brain aneurysm has helped a record eight different people, including five children, through organ donation.
She donated her heart, pancreas, lungs, kidneys, small bowel and liver.
It is a legacy that her parents said she would have been very proud of.
NHS Blood and Transplant said no other donor had helped this many people.
Jemima collapsed during preparations for her mum's 38th birthday party and died four days later at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
Her heart, small bowel, and pancreas were transplanted into three different people while two people received her kidneys.
Her liver was split and transplanted into a further two people, and both of her lungs were transplanted into one patient.
Normally, a donation results in 2.6 transplants - eight is very unusual.
According to Jemima's parents, she had never heard of organ donation before and found it a little bit unsettling but totally understood the importance of it.
She said they still found the decision to donate their daughter's organs hard, but felt it was right.
Jemima's family have set up a trust in her name to promote organ donation.

Efforts to adapt The Dark Tower series for the screen have been ongoing since 2007, with periodic reports and official announcements. The project was shelved, before the rights were transitioned to a different production company. Development experienced starts and stops with various filmmakers and studios at different times, including Universal Films, Paramount, Columbia-Tristar Entertainment, and Lionsgate Entertainment. The adaptation went through three major phases of planning: with J. J. Abrams from 2007 to 2009, Ron Howard from 2010 to 2015, and finally, the current iteration, announced in March 2015, produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Media Rights Capital, with Nikolaj Arcel directing and Howard remaining in a producing role.

The Dark Tower premiered at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on July 31, 2017, and was theatrically released in the United States on August 4, 2017 by Columbia Pictures. It has grossed $101 million worldwide against production budget of $60 million.

🌿One Sunday morning, a wealthy man sat in his balcony enjoying the sunshine and his coffee when a little ant caught his eye; going from one side to the other side of the balcony, carrying a big leaf several times more than its size.

🌿The man watched it for more than an hour. He saw that the ant faced many impediments during its journey, paused, took a diversion and then continued towards its destination.

🌿At one point the tiny creature came across a crack in the floor. It paused for a little while, analyzed and then laid the huge leaf over the crack, walked over the leaf, picked the leaf on the other side then continued its journey.

🌿The man was captivated by the cleverness of the ant, one of God’s tiniest creatures.

🌿Along with all these capabilities, the man also noticed that this tiny creature shared some human shortcomings.

🌿The man saw about an hour later that the creature had reached its destination – a tiny hole in the floor which was entrance to its underground dwelling.

🌿At this point the ant’s shortcoming that it shared with man was revealed.

🌿How could the ant carry the large leaf it carefully managed to its destination into the tiny hole? It simply couldn’t!

🌿So the tiny creature, after all the painstaking and hard work and exercising great skills, overcoming all the difficulties along the way, just left behind the large leaf and went home empty-handed.

🌿The ant had not thought about the end before it began its challenging journey and in the end the large leaf was nothing more than a burden to it.

🌿The creature had no option, but to leave it behind, to reach its destination.

🌿The man learned a great lesson that day. Isn’t that the truth about our lives?

🌿We don’t realize in our life’s journey that these are just burdens that we are carrying with utmost care and fear of losing them, only to find that at the end, they are useless and we can’t take them with us.

PRIVATE COMPANY' INJUSTICE TO WORKERS

A well known media company in Abuja - one of the top 5, is owing its workers salary. Some 10 months salary and others, 12 months depending on how long they have been working with the company. Most of the workers decided to take up part time marketing to enable them earn commission that would at least pay their bills especially their transportation fare, feeding and scouting for new clients.
According to the staff, this has become their means of livelihood as they are never certain of when the next salary would arrive. When salary arrives, it goes into clearing debts.
Our source informed us that the company has recently implemented a new policy regarding marketing.
The policy states that henceforth, the company does not accept cash. Every client must make payment directly into the company's account or go to the office of the company and use their POS to make payment. Any staff that brings cash to the cashier would be made to pay a fine.
This means that the marketers cannot get their commission immediately. They have to wait for the company to give them their commission after a process of sorting out the lodgments made into the company's account.
